Derick has had a long history of business and ministry. He is a forth generation businessman (established in 1916) who has a passion for technology in business and ministry. 
     
Derick grew up in Canada, graduated high school in 1973, and attended Memorial University. He worked in and managed their successful family retail business for over twenty years.
   
As a member of the Gideons International for twelve years, he held several offices of leadership, including eastern Canada Trustee on the National Cabinet.
   
In 1993, Derick graduated from Masters Commission at Phoenix First Assembly, Phoenix, AZ, and is now an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.
    
From 1994-2001 Derick was an Associate Pastor of “The Deacon Ministry”, at Phoenix First Assembly (over 14,000 in attendance) under the direction of senior pastor, Tommy Barnett. The Deacon Ministry was responsible for Visitation to  guest and church members. With over 100 Deacons, both men and women, they were able to respond to the many needs of the congregation.
    
While at Phoenix First Assembly, Derick was also instrumental in developing and overseeing Hospitality PFA, a ministry of  Greeters, Parking Lot Bus Shuttle and Golf Cart Greeters, Information Center and Home Fellowship Groups.
   
Derick co-authored a book that redefines the ministry of Deacons, called “Everyone Deserves a Visit” (Gates Publishing, 1998). A twenty first century approach to a first century method.  In his second book, “ChurchCare Follow-up and Visitation Planning Guide”,  he gives a step by step guide to setting up a Visitation and Follow-up ministry using his business and ministry background. Derick was instrumental in starting the Web Site for Phoenix First Assembly and the Dream Center in Los Angeles, and the development and production of “TotalChurch Software”, a complete church visitation follow-up, gifting, attendance and contribution software program that integrated with QuickBooks.
 
From 2001 - 2006  Derick and his wife Annette, planted Radiant Family Church in the Jacksonville, FL metro area, and are now living in Glendale, AZ.
